Why a studio based in Westhampton Beach
We live on the same calendar as the businesses we work with. We see Main Street fill up on a July Saturday and go quiet on a Tuesday in February, and we know the phone calls that come with each. That shapes how we build: sites that make it easy to book or call when it’s busy, and a Google profile and email list that keep working when it isn’t.
Being local also means knowing the small things that trip up search engines here. The most common one: Westhampton and Westhampton Beach are different places. The village has its own government and the 11978 ZIP code. Westhampton, the hamlet to the north, uses 11977 and is where much of Gabreski Airport sits. Businesses along Montauk Highway can be in either. If your website says one and your Google profile says the other, you’re giving Google two answers to the same question.
The local business landscape
The village is small, about three square miles, but its downtown serves a much larger area. The Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce describes the community as the incorporated villages of Westhampton Beach, Quogue and West Hampton Dunes plus the hamlets of Remsenburg, Speonk, Westhampton and Quiogue. It also calls the area the “First Hampton”: the first village in the Hamptons to rent out rooms and the first reached by the Long Island Rail Road.
Commerce is concentrated in a few places. Old Riverhead Road comes down from Sunrise Highway’s Exit 63; Montauk Highway and Mill Road run east to west; and the village’s business triangle is formed by Mill Road, Main Street and Potunk Lane, with the Six Corners roundabout at its point. The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, in a former 1930s movie theater on Main Street, opened in 1998 and draws audiences into town who then look for dinner nearby. South of the village, Dune Road’s barrier beach is reached by drawbridges at Jessup Lane and Beach Lane.
The chamber calls the village “basically residential in character with a sizeable seasonal population,” and the numbers around it agree. Southampton Town’s housing study found 47.2 percent of homes in the neighboring hamlet of Westhampton, and 49.1 percent in Remsenburg-Speonk, occupied seasonally. The chamber’s own calendar reflects that swing: a Saturday farmers market on the Village Green from summer into fall, fall sidewalk sales in late September, and an indoor Winter Market that in 2026 ran from January 3 to April 25 at St. Mark’s Parish Hall on Main Street.
What works online here
- Phone-first “near me” searches. A summer visitor on Main Street or a concertgoer before a show searches from their phone. Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity, and a visitor standing downtown is as close as it gets. A complete profile with correct hours, photos and a menu or price list wins those moments.
- Searches from the city. Second-home owners hire pool, landscaping, cleaning, caretaking and HVAC companies from Manhattan or Brooklyn. They type “Westhampton Beach” rather than “near me,” so your website needs pages that name the village and the work.
- Service areas that cross village lines. A contractor based here may work from Eastport to East Quogue. Google allows one profile for the base location with a defined service area, asks service-area businesses to hide their address, and says the area shouldn’t reach much past about two hours’ drive.
- Seasonal hours that are actually current. Nothing costs a Main Street shop a review faster than summer hours showing in November. Our guide to off-season marketing covers the full calendar.
